Its sense of battlefield development and interconnection was nearly symphonic, richly rewarding players who plumbed its subtleties. ![]() Its graphics engine handled massive clashes with ease. However you put it, Crusaders was a distinctive hybrid, and one of the more impressive portrayals of large-scale combat in gaming. Perhaps it's a question of perspective: Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders either brought strategic sophistication to the hack-and-slash, or it brought a much-needed infusion of spontaneity and life to real-time strategy. ![]()
